So. Half-hidden double lids? If you don’t know what they are or what they look like I wouldn’t be surprised.
I feel like half-hidden double lids are the most neglected form of eyelids, with hardly any tutorials or tips for them. I personally have this type of eyelid, and have some tips and tricks if you want to wear makeup, from eyeliner to eyeshadow to mascara!
1. Eyeshadow Isn’t A Must
Yup, that’s right, I said it. This type of eye actually looks best as a blank canvas. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing; no money wasted on primer or a bunch of eyeshadows! So, how do you get a flattering look with no eyeshadow and half hidden double lids? The key is in the tightlining and mascara.
2. Lining the Top and Bottom Waterlines
Since it is near impossible to line the upper lashline without any smudging and creasing, lining the top waterline, or tightlining, is the next best thing to get more definition. Lining the bottom waterline with black, white or peach pencil liner is optional. If you look a little scary when your bottom waterline is fully lined in black (like me >.<), an alternative is to only line the outer half/third of the bottom waterline. You could also line up the remaining waterline up to the tear duct to create sort of a gradient effect.
3. Mascara- Getting the Lashes Fuller
Everyone has lashes. They may be pointing in different directions depending on eye shapes, but it doesn’t change the fact that we still have them. 🙂 So why not flaunt them? I find that with double eyelids the lashes often point downwards or about parallel to the ground (sounds weird but you know what I mean ;D), so curl curl CURL those lashes. Then, don’t be afraid to be generous with the mascara. Make sure to get it all the way down to the roots of the lashes, and apply two coats. The second coat doesn’t necessarily need to be all the way to the tips (this can make them look clumpy and unnatural), but rather just to the lash roots. This makes the lashes way fuller and generally more flattering 😉
I hope this helped! I will be updating the blog with more makeup looks and ideas for those who happen to have this type of eye shape, so stay tuned. 🙂
